Cânion do Rio Poty ainda é um cenário desconhecido

Delta do Parnaíba, Cajueiro da praia, os sítios arqueológicos em São Raimundo Nonato, a Serra da Capivara, o artesanato do pólo cerâmico do Poty, a opala de Pedro II, as belezas de Castelo do Piauí e inúmeras outras atrações que o Estado possui podem ser comparados às belezas encontradas no Cânion do Rio Poty. A 180 km de Teresina, o acesso principal à área é feito pela cidade de Castelo do Piauí. A falha ecológica causada pelo rio que nasce no Ceará e corta essa fenda gerou uma grande atração, ainda pouco explorada. O cenário proporciona desvendar boa parte da história do Piauí. As inscrições rupestres esculpidas em baixo-relevo nas pedras das encostas permitem aos pesquisadores que visitam e aos pescadores que moram na região conviver diariamente com uma enciclopédia a céu aberto. Esse paraíso desconhecido é para os visitantes e amantes da natureza uma chance de desfrutar uma paisagem ainda preservada. A cachoeira da Lembrada dá início ao médio cânion, marcado por corredeiras e paredões de até 60m que permite aos amantes de aventuras praticarem o rapel, trilhas, canoagem e acampamentos. Todas essas belezas que o lugar exibe não têm proteção por lei, o incentivo à visitação é feito pela prefeitura da cidade de Castelo do Piauí e moradores da área.
