Ferrugem asiática chega às lavouras de soja do Rio Grande do Sul

A ferrugem asiática já ataca as lavouras gaúchas de soja nesta safra. Com a ocorrência de seis casos da doença em cinco municípios, os produtores redobram a vigilância nas plantações.

Até agora, conforme o professor da Universidade de Passo Fundo (UPF) e doutor em Fitopatologia, Erlei Melo Reis, a incidência foi detectada em lavouras experimentais ou em soja guaxa, aquela que nasce a partir de grãos perdidos na colheita anterior. É geralmente na segunda quinzena de janeiro que a doença causada por fungo atinge áreas comerciais, segundo o professor.

Em razão da previsão de um verão chuvoso, a tendência é de que os produtores sofram mais neste ano. Na safra passada, foram detectadas 246 ocorrências de ferrugem asiática no Rio Grande do Sul.

– A expectativa é de que nesta safra a situação seja mais severa do que na safra passada por causa da frequência de chuva – explica o professor.

E a proliferação de casos da ferrugem nesta temporada vai depender do comportamento do clima no verão, acrescenta o assistente técnico da Emater, Alencar Paulo Rugeri:

– A tendência é de que vamos ter um ano favorável tanto para a doença quanto para pragas.

Para fugir da enfermidade, a arma do produtor é a vigilância. Reis recomenda que sejam feitas vistorias nas lavouras no mínimo duas vezes por semana. Para ele, a aplicação de fungicida deve ser feita após o surgimento dos sintomas iniciais. Rugeri, da Emater, também defende o acompanhamento da planta e que, ao notar qualquer mudança, o produtor procure a assistência técnica.

Em Novo Machado, no noroeste do Estado, a ferrugem asiática, identificada em dezembro do ano passado, já comprometeu o rendimento de uma lavoura, de cerca de cinco hectares. A produtividade deve cair pela metade. A área afetada foi cultivada com uma variedade de ciclo precoce, em setembro, ou seja, cerca de dois meses antes do plantio tradicional.

De acordo com o engenheiro agrônomo da Cooperativa Mista São Luiz (Coopermil), de Santa Rosa, Guiomar João Backes, os produtores de áreas próximas ao foco já foram alertados. Backes está recomendando a aplicação de fungicida nas lavouras que começarem a florescer, como prevenção.

Focos do fungo também foram encontrados em Três de Maio, Júlio de Castilhos, Santiago e Erebango, conforme o Consórcio Antiferrugem, que monitora a dispersão da doença.

A doença

- Os sintomas causados pelo fungo Phakopsora pachyrhizi iniciam-se nas folhas inferiores da planta e são caracterizados por minúsculos pontos, mais escuros do que o tecido sadio da folha, com coloração esverdeada a cinza-esverdeada. Essas lesões não são facilmente visíveis a olho nu, sendo necessário posicionar a folha contra um fundo claro ou usar uma lupa.
- Identificada pela primeira vez no Japão em 1903, chegou ao continente americano pelo Paraguai no início da década e, no Brasil, em 2001.
