Arqueólogos descobrem cidade egípcia de 3.500 anos

Arqueólogos encontraram no oásis de um deserto ruínas de um assentamento egípcio de 3.500 anos, que antecede outras cidadesantigas por um milênio, informou nesta quarta-feira (25) o Ministério daCultura.

Realizando escavações no oásis Um El-Kharga, um dos cinco desertos ocidentais do Egito – a cerca de 200 quilômetros ao sul do Cairo -, uma missão da universidade de Yale fez a descoberta enquanto trabalhava em um mapa de rotas antigas do Deserto Ocidental.

O assentamento possui rotas ligando o Vale do Nilo, no Egito, com o oásis ocidental, se estendendo até a região de Darfur, no Sudão, disse o comunicado. O local atingiu seu auge no Reino Médio (1786 a 1665 antes de Cristo)

As ruínas de uma padaria, assim como dois fornos e um torno de oleiro usado na produção de formas de cerâmica, onde o pão era assado, também foram encontrados, sugerindo que o local seria um importante centro gastronômico, informou o chefe da missão, John Darnell.
