Dia da árvore marca chegada da primavera

Há 30 anos, Teresina orgulhava sua população com o verde que a caracterizava. Hoje, a presença do verde se torna cada vez mais raro e mesmo assim é motivo de comemoração

Hoje, 21 de setembro, é comemorado o dia da árvore em todo o hemisfério sul. A data anuncia a chegada da primavera para os estados que possuem as quatro estações climáticas definidas. Em Teresina, neste período os ipês é que marcam presença no cenário urbano.

As árvores são importantes, pois protegem a terra com sua sombra e suas raízes, contribuindo para a evaporação da água, participando do ciclo hidrológico e mantendo o ar úmido, além de produzir o oxigênio indispensável à vida. Algumas árvores fornecem frutos valiosos para a nossa alimentação, além de produtos medicinais, fabricação de móveis e floradas para as abelhas produzirem mel.

É nesse período que árvores como o angico branco, o angico preto, os ipês, ou pau d’arco como são popularmente conhecidos, florescem ajudando a compor a cena do cerrado e da caatinga.

Na Avenida João XXIII e a Avenida Raul Lopes, na zona Leste da cidade, onde há maior predominância dessa árvore, o colorido dos ipês marca não a primavera das estações, mas a primavera do tempo quente, pois é nos meses de setembro e outubro que os termômetros registram as mais altas temperaturas e mais baixas umidades do ar.

“Há vinte anos Teresina possuía muitas áreas verdes, muitas árvores frutíferas, conseguíamos apanhar na rua os frutos, hoje está tudo cheio de prédio, não vejo mais verde, só concreto”, Raimundo Silva, 78 anos, morador do centro de Teresina.
