Uso de sacolas plásticas cai 20% em três anos no Brasil

Os brasileiros estão mudando um hábito em nome da proteção ao meio ambiente. Nos últimos três anos, o uso de sacolas plásticas caiu 20%.

Quem dispensa a sacola de plástico se livra da fila. Uma rede de supermercados montou caixas preferenciais para os consumidores dispostos a dar uma ajuda ao meio ambiente. Eles estão aumentando. “Prefiro a caixa, porque as coisas vão mais bem organizadas”, afirma uma mulher. “É bem mais prático para tirar e colocar no carro”, comenta um rapaz.

É prático e econômico. Cada sacola que ele deixa de levar rende um desconto no valor final da compra. “A gente está dando um descontinho de três centavos por cinco itens registrados”, diz uma funcionária. “Já demos em torno de R$ 900 mil em descontos para os nossos clientes”, declara Rogério Marcílio, gerente rede de supermercado.

Mas uma pesquisa mostrou que a sacola plástica ainda é a embalagem preferida para 71% das donas de casa. E todas elas dão o mesmo destino para a sacola. “A utilidade é para descartar lixo”, explica uma senhora.

Algumas redes de supermercados concluíram que ainda vai um tempo para mudar o hábito do consumidor e resolveram fazer diferente. Vão investir na qualidade dos sacos plásticos para aumentar a capacidade e a resistência deles.

E já deu para perceber a diferença na prática. O número de sacolas por compra despencou. “Uma compra que levaria dez sacolas, hoje, a gente pode trabalhar com quatro ou cinco”, aposta uma senhora. “Você pode colocar até os pacotes de 5 kg de alimentos tranquilamente”, declara uma jovem.

E o consumo delas no Brasil está bem menor, caiu 20% em três anos, dizem os fabricantes. “Nós estamos fechando 2010, tendo economizado aproximadamente 3,9 bilhões de sacolinhas”, diz Paulo Dacolina, diretor do Instituto Nacional do Plástico.

“No final, acaba todo mundo ganhando, o mercado, o meio ambiente que é mais importante e o cliente que demora menos tempo no caixa”, comenta a caixa de supermercado Maria Cícera dos Santos.

“A gente já produz tanto lixo, acho que quanto melhor o lixo puder ser, melhor para o planeta”, afirma o advogado Rodolfo Carlos.
