Piauí: Seca prejudica e derruba produtividade da soja em 10,3%

A forte seca que atinge o Piauí desde o início do ano está prejudicando a produtividade da soja, principal produto agrícola do estado, responsável por 63% da colheita do estado. De acordo com o IBGE, a oleaginosa deverá ter um rendimento médio em 2010 de 2.531 toneladas por hectare plantado, inferior às 2.821 t por hectare registradas em 2009. No ano passado, a produção total do Estado foi de 1,580 milhões de toneladas de grãos, 12% maior que a espera para este ano, de 1,384 milhões. Haverá queda também em outros culturas: o feijão vai cair 45% e o milho, 28%. O algodão, apesar de também registrar queda (-20%), aumentou sua produtividade em 39%.

O IBGE também divulgou a produção nacional de 2009, que foi de R$ 140,8 bilhões, menor em quase R$ 8,0 bilhões (-5,3%) na comparação com 2008. A redução se deve, basicamente, à menor produção de
milho (-13,9%), café (-12,8%), algodão herbáceo (-27,3%), trigo (-16,1%) e soja (-4,2%). Além disso, alguns produtos, como milho, feijão, café e trigo, tiveram preços inferiores aos do ano anterior. A área plantada
total aumentou 0,3% sobre 2008 e chegou a 65,7 milhões de hectares.

As culturas que mais se expandiram em 2009 foram a soja, com 509,6 mil hectares (2,4%), e a cana-de-açúcar (572,5 mil hectares, 7,0% a
mais). A soja, mesmo com a redução da safra, continuou sendo a cultura que mais contribuiu para o valor da produção, com 27% do total (R$ 38,0 bilhões). Em segundo lugar, veio a cana-de-açúcar com 17,0% (R$ 24,0 bilhões). A expansão da cultura e os bons preços no mercado, principalmente do açúcar, levaram a um
aumento de 16,0% no valor da produção da cana, em comparação com 2008.

Esse crescimento a fez ultrapassar o milho, que perdeu o 2º lugar (14,0% em 2008) por problemas climáticos e baixos preços do mercado, reduzindo sua participação em 2009 para 10,7% do total produzido. Em quarto lugar veio o café, cuja redução já era esperada, porque essa cultura alterna anos de alta e baixa produtividade, com 6,1% do valor da produção nacional em 2009.

Entre os produtos que tiveram crescimento em 2009, destacam-se o feijão, com aumento de 0,7% na produção e 8,4% na área plantada; o arroz em casca, que chegou a 12,7 milhões de toneladas (+4,9%); e as frutas que, coletivamente, geraram receita bruta de R$ 17,7 bilhões, 1,8% maior que a de 2008.

São Paulo era em 2009 o maior estado em produção agrícola, responsável por 16,3% do total da produção nacional, sendo o principal produtor de cana-de-açúcar, laranja, amendoim, banana, limão e tangerina, entre outras. Já o Paraná, que estava em 2º lugar em 2008, com 14,8% do valor da produção nacional, em 2009 passou por problemas climáticos, caindo para quarta colocação com 11,8%, atrás do Mato Grosso (12,8%) e Rio Grande do Sul (12,7%). O Piauí responde por 0,9% da produção nacional, e 2,1% da área plantada.
