Ibama define período de proibição de captura de caranguejos em 2011

Nos meses de janeiro, fevereiro e março de 2011 estarão proibidos a captura, o transporte, a armazenagem e a comercialização do caranguejo-uçá, segundo decisão do Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Ibama). O calendário nacional para o próximo defeso da espécie foi aprovado na terça-feira (14), em Belém.

De acordo com o Ibama, a proibição pretende proteger o caranguejo-uçá em seu período de reprodução, denominado "andada" - quando os caranguejos deixam suas tocas para acasalar. Em 2011, o defeso ocorrerá de 5 a 10 de janeiro, e de 20 a 25 de janeiro; de 3 a 8 de fevereiro, e de 19 a 24 de fevereiro; e de 5 a 10 de março, e de 20 a 25 de março. A proibição vale para o Amapá, Pará, Alagoas, Bahia, Ceará, Maranhão, Paraíba, Piauí, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe e Espírito Santo, estados onde, segundo o Instituto, há ocorrência do caranguejo.

Apesar da definição das datas do defeso em 2011, especialistas do Ibama alertam que o calendário é apenas indicativo. Se os caranguejos andarem, não poderão ser capturados, mesmo se o fenômeno ocorrer fora do período oficial do defeso.

O Ibama afirma que, no período de reprodução do caranguejo-uçá, só poderão ser comercializados os caranguejos capturados antes do início do defeso, cujos estoques foram declarados ao Ibama ou à Secretaria Estadual de Meio Ambiente. A multa descumpre a definição é de R$ 700 a R$ 100 mil, mais R$ 20 por quilo de caranguejo apreendido.
