Cinco mil produtores de orgânicos estão regularizados

Selo do Ministério da Agricultura garante que produtos são cultivados sem agrotóxicos e não agridem a natureza

Após o término do prazo de cadastro dos produtores orgânicos, na última sexta-feira (31/12), a primeira avaliação do Ministério a Agricultura aponta que cerca de 1,5 milprodutores orgânicos estão de acordo com as novas regras e mais 3,5 mil estão em processo final de cadastramento. “São cinco mil projetos adequados à norma, número que deve crescer com a adoção do sistema oficial de cadastro”, explica o chefe da Divisão de Controle de Qualidade Orgânica, Roberto Mattar.

Mattar reforça que quem ainda não se cadastrou no sistema deve se adequar às novas regras e vincular-se a algumaentidade certificadora. Aqueles que fazem venda direta devem se cadastrar no site do Ministério da Agricultura.

A legislação brasileira estabelece três instrumentos para garantir a qualidade dos alimentos: a certificação, os sistemas participativos de garantia e o controle social para a venda direta sem certificação. Os agricultores que buscarem a certificação e estiverem de acordo com as normas poderão usar o selo oficial nos seus produtos. O selo é fornecido por certificadoras cadastradas no Ministério da Agricultura que são responsáveis pela fiscalização dos produtos.

O selo também poderá ser concedido pelos sistemas participativos de garantia, associações de produtores que fazem o processo de auditoria, fiscalização e certificação. Já os produtores que vendem por conta própria seus produtos de origem da agricultura orgânica receberão, ao se cadastrar no site do Ministério, uma declaração que os autoriza a realizar as vendas em feiras e entregas em domicílio.

Os produtos orgânicos são cultivados sem emprego de agrotóxicos e fertilizantes químicos, são provenientes de sistemas agrícolas baseados em processos naturais, que não agridem a natureza e mantêm a vida biológica do solo ativa. As técnicas para se obter o produto orgânico incluem manejo orgânico do solo e rotação de culturas, que garantem a qualidade dos alimentos. Também são características fundamentais na produção orgânica a responsabilidade social e ambiental, como o uso adequado do solo, água, ar e recursos naturais.
