Agroquímicos menos tóxicos são prioridade do Ministério da Agricultura

O registro de agrotóxicos com menor toxidade é prioridade do Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento. Hoje, 61% das 1.468 marcas já estão classificadas como de risco 3 ou 4 (menos tóxicas). Além disso, os pedidos de registro de produtos biológicos são aprovados rapidamente, no período de oito a 15 meses, pelos ministérios da Agricultura, Meio Ambiente e Saúde. No caso dos convencionais, a aprovação pode levar até três anos.

"Temos recebido mais demandas dos estados de São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina e Bahia, que têm interesse em registrar produtos biológicos. Hoje, temos 22, entre fungicidas e inseticidas", explica o coordenador-geral de Agrotóxicos e Afins do ministério, Luís Rangel. Entre as prioridades para 2011, o técnico destaca, ainda, a identificação de produtos fitossanitários para uso na agricultura orgânica. "As regras para esse tipo de registro serão definidas até o fim deste ano e a expectativa é que, em 2012, tenhamos opções para esse sistema de produção", explica.

Minor Crops

Em relação aos agrotóxicos que serão utilizados nas culturas de menor suporte fitossanitário (Minor Crops), o Ministério da Agricultura estabeleceu as normas no ano passado. Minor Crops são aquelas culturas, como cebolinha e coentro, para as quais falta ou há número reduzido de agrotóxicos. Em 2011, o objetivo é identificar os produtos de que os agricultores precisam para controlar suas pragas e verificar as empresas que têm interesse em investir nesse mercado. Após a análise dos dados enviados pelas empresas, serão selecionados os produtos considerados menos tóxicos e mais eficientes para a agricultura.

A expectativa para 2012 é que já existam registros para algumas culturas. A maioria dos pedidos de cooperativas e associações tem se concentrado em produtos para mandioca, melão, maracujá e morango. Em 2010, foram 40 solicitações e para 2011 o número pode chegar a 180, segundo Rangel.

Outra ação do Ministério da Agricultura é o registro de produtos genéricos. "Essa é uma política de equivalência, em que também verificamos a qualidade e a eficiência dos agrotóxicos. Os custos podem gerar economia de até 30% para o produtor", esclarece Rangel. Hoje, são 200 produtos genéricos registrados e a ideia é casar essa ação com a política de registro de produtos para pequenas culturas.
