Mercado de orgânicos no Brasil cresce 40% em 2010

As vendas de produtos orgânicos no Brasil alcançaram R$ 350 milhões em 2010. O valor é 40% superior ao registrado em 2009, conforme os números divulgados pelo Projeto Organics Brasil, organização não-governamental (ONG) que reúne empresas exportadoras de produtos e insumos orgânicos.

“Esse crescimento representa a difusão do setor. Cada vez mais pessoas buscam informações sobre produtos orgânicos e, consequentemente, consomem mais esse tipo de alimento”, destaca o coordenador do Agroecologia do Ministério da Agricultura, Rogério Dias. “As novas regras para a cadeia produtiva de orgânicos, que passaram a ser obrigatórias a partir de 1º de janeiro deste ano, fomentam ainda mais o crescimento do setor”, diz.

O mercado externo de orgânicos também cresceu em 2010. As 72 empresas associadas à Organics Brasil, que representam mais de 60% do setor, exportaram cerca de U$ 108 milhões no ano passado, segundo levantamento do Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria e Comércio Exterior (MDIC). Esse valor é 30% superior às receitas geradas em 2009. Os produtos mais exportados são os do complexo soja (grão, farelo e óleo), açúcar, café, cacau e frutas (abacaxi, mamão e manga). Os principais países consumidores são Holanda, Suécia, Estados Unidos, França, Reino Unido, Bélgica e Canadá.

Dias destaca também que o número de feiras de produtos orgânicos tem crescido bastante no país, o que favorece a comercialização. Segundo o coordenador, hoje, os produtos orgânicos mais procurados pelos brasileiros são hortaliças, legumes, frutas e produtos processados como sucos, arroz, açúcar e café.

Regulamentação do setor

De acordo com o Ministério da Agricultura, cerca de 5,5 mil produtores já estão de acordo com as novas regras de produção orgânica. Desde o dia 1º de janeiro, o produto comercializado na rede varejista como orgânico deve conter o selo do Sistema Brasileiro de Conformidade Orgânica.

Durante alguns meses, os consumidores ainda poderão encontrar produtos sem o selo, em função da comercialização de parte dos estoques produzidos em 2010. Os agricultores que vendem em feiras livres não recebem o selo, mas também devem estar cadastrados no Ministério da Agricultura.
