O Programa Escola Sustentável é realidade nas escolas municipais de Teresina

O programa Escola Sustentável é uma parceria entre o Ministério da Educação, Meio Ambiente e SEMEC (Secretaria Municipal de Educação e Cultura de Teresina) e engloba as ações ambientais já realizadas pelos centros municipais de Educação Infantil com o projeto Escola e Família em Paz com o Planeta e as amplia para as escolas de Ensino Fundamental.

De acordo com Creusa Soares, educadora e responsável pela divisão de Educação Ambiental da SEMEC, o programa foi implantado há cerca de dois anos e terá continuidade.

“Não se pode falar de Educação Ambiental sem falar de mudança de comportamento, de sensibilização e despertamento de consciência sobre a preservação ambiental, porque envolve a mudança dos educandos, da família, do corpo da escola, da comunidade onde a escola está inserida, enfim é uma ação contínua e conjunta, onde os resultados só serão vistos em longo prazo”, disse Creusa Soares.

O programa, já iniciado em 10 escolas da rede municipal de ensino de Teresina como piloto, está sendo implantado em todas as escolas da rede, de forma gradativa, através do envolvimento das equipes escolares em atividades de arborização, coleta seletiva do lixo e reciclagem.

O programa Escola Sustentável prevê a arborização de espaços comuns das unidades de ensino da rede municipal de ensino, com plantação também de grama; coleta seletiva do lixo; geração de renda para a comunidade, através da venda de material reciclável para cooperativa de catadores; implantação de cisternas para captação de água da chuva a fim de abastecer os banheiros das unidades de ensino da rede municipal; e implantação de energia solar nas escolas municipais de Teresina.

“embora o nosso município ainda não possua serviço de coleta seletiva de lixo, nós precisamos despertar o hábito nos alunos, porque é da formação de novos hábitos que se vem a solução para os graves problemas ambientai”, enfatizou Creusa.

Ainda segundo Creusa Soares, a implantação do Escola Sustentável em todas as escolas da rede municipal de ensino está sendo importante para aprofundar as discussões sobre meio ambiente e propor soluções ao poder público municipal, no sentido de melhorar a qualidade de vida da população a partir da conscientização ambiental.
