Ceará tem destaque nacional no consumo e produção de pescado

Os maiores pólos produtores concentram-se nos municípios de Fortaleza, Camocim, Acaraú, Itarema e Icapuí.

O Ceará está hoje entre um dos Estados de maior consumo de pescado do país. Fica atrás apenas do Amazonas e Pará onde a base alimentar é peixe, tendo um consumo médio de 12 quilos ao ano por habitante.

São pargos, tilápias, ciobas, sirigados e camarões. Os maiores pólos produtores concentram-se nos municípios de Fortaleza, Camocim, Acaraú, Itarema e Icapuí. Atualmente são cerca de 40 mil pescadores cadastrados no Estado.

Maior produtor de tilápia

O Ceará destaca-se no cenário nacional como o principal produtor do peixe, com 25 mil toneladas de tilápia produzidas no último ano. O Estado, também é o maior mercado consumidor do alimento.

Camarão

Na produção de camarão cultivado, os cerca de 180 produtores cearenses, distribuídos em 21 cidades do Estado, atingiram em 2010 uma produção anual de 35 mil toneladas. Em 2009, o Ceará embarcou para o exterior US$ 3,16 milhões em camarão.
