ICMBio e Interpi discutem ampliação do Parque Serra das Confusões

Representantes do Instituto Chico Mendes de Conservação da Biodiversidade (ICMBio) estão realizando uma visita técnica ao Instituto de Terras do Piauí (Interpi), para discutir o processo de desapropriação e indenização dos proprietários de terras que estão instaladas na área alcançada pela expansão do Parque Nacional Serra das Confusões, no sul do Estado.

O decreto que determina a ampliação da área de preservação ambiental foi assinado pelo então presidente Lula no último dia 30 de dezembro. Com o acréscimo de 297 mil hectares, o Parque Serra das Confusões, fundado em 1998, torna-se o maior parque de preservação do bioma da Caatinga no Brasil, com uma área total de 823 mil hectares.

A visita de técnicos do ICMBio ao Interpi vai discutir aspectos práticos do processo de regularização fundiária e indenização das terras que estão inseridas dentro da área recentemente englobada pelo Parque. “O Estado do Piauí é proprietário de parte dessas terras, que agora serão transferidas para a União. Essa visita irá detalhar aspectos práticos, como as verbas indenizatórias referentes à transferência de propriedade desses territórios”, esclarece Tadeu Maia, presidente do Interpi.

O Parque Nacional Serra das Confusões está situado na região do município polo de Bom Jesus, englobando outros onze municípios piauienses. Com o decreto, as áreas incluídas dentro do plano de expansão do parque passam para a administração do ICMBio, que é um órgão federal. A ampliação eleva a área destinada à preservação do bioma da Caatinga no país, o único exclusivamente brasileiro, segundo afirmam os pesquisadores.

Os técnicos chegaram a Teresina nesta quinta-feira (24) e permanecem na cidade até sexta, participando de reuniões e analisando a documentação que o Interpi produziu sobre a área.
