MMA debate mudanças do clima com organizações sociais

O secretário de Mudanças Climáticas e Qualidade Ambiental, Eduardo Assad, representou a ministra Izabella Teixeira, nesta quarta-feira (16/3), no simpósio promovido pelo Fórum de Mudanças Climáticas e Justiça Social, constituído por organizações da sociedade civil e vinculado à Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB).

O sociólogo Ivo Polletto, coordenador do fórum, apresentou a pauta de reivindicações do movimento social não apenas ao secretário Assad, mas também aos ministros Gilberto Carvalho, da Secretaria Geral da Presidência da República, e Maria do Rosário, da Secretaria dos Direitos Humanos. O encontro foi realizado no Centro Cultural de Brasília, na Asa Norte.

"As reivindicações estão contempladas nas ações do Fundo Clima", comentou o secretário do MMA ao ouvir a pauta do fórum. Ele se referiu ao Fundo Nacional sobre Mudança do Clima, que tem R$ 238 milhões para serem aplicados em projetos, do setor público e privado, para a redução dos impactos consequentes das alterações da temperatura global. Assad disse que o Brasil tem tecnologia para continuar avançando em termos de desenvolvimento ao mesmo tempo em que pode se tornar referência em ações de sequestro de carbono.

A pauta de reivindicações do fórum inclui desde a necessidade de investimentos em tecnologias alternativas de geração de energia, como prevenção a problemas causados por desastres naturais, proteção de florestas e iniciativas para a produção de alimentos por meios menos agressivos ao meio ambiente. Eduardo Assad comentou outras ações do Governo Federal que fazem coro aos apelos dos movimentos sociais. Deu como exemplo as reuniões que vem sendo realizadas para debate sobre geração de energia solar e também das marés, em 8.000 km da costa brasileira.
