Secretarias preparam manhã de atividades no dia das Florestas

A Secretaria Municipal de Educação, em parceria com a Secretaria Municipal de Meio Ambiente estão realizando uma manhã de atividades, nesta segunda, no Parque da Cidade, que marcará o Dia Mundial das Florestas, comemorado em 21 de março.

Segundo estudos, das florestas, dependem diretamente para sobreviver, 1,6 bilhão de pessoas e 80% da biodiversidade terrestre do planeta. Por isso e, para chamar a atenção para a necessidade de preservação desses ecossistemas, técnicos ambientais da SEMEC, alunos do Pró-Jovem e da Educação Infantil, aliados aos técnicos da Secretaria do Meio Ambiente realizarão o plantio de muitas mudas no viveiro de plantas chamado "Citronela", localizado no Parque.

2011 foi intitulado pela Organização das Nações Unidas como o "ano internacional das florestas". De acordo com a gerente de Ensino Fundamental da SEMEC, responsável pelo programa Escola Sustentável, que inseriu a Educação Ambiental no cotidiano dos estudantes da rede municipal, "é importante valorizar a data com ações educativas como essa, porque fomenta, entre educadores, técnicos e estudantes, o interesse pela preservação ambiental".

Idealizado pelo secretário municipal de Educação, Ribamar Torres, o programa Escola Sustentável prevê a arborização e plantio de grama nos espaços comuns das unidades da rede municipal de ensino; coleta seletiva do lixo; geração de renda para a comunidade, através da venda de material reciclável para cooperativas de catadores; implantação de cisternas para captação de água da chuva a fim de abastecer os banheiros das unidades de ensino da rede municipal; e implantação de energia solar nas escolas municipais de Teresina.
