Na Espanha, energia eólica supera a nuclear em consumo

A energia eólica supriu em março 21% da demanda por eletricidade na Espanha e, pela primeira vez na história, esteve à frente da energia nuclear, que cobriu 19% do consumo do país. Os dados foram divulgados nesta quinta-feira, 31 de março, pela Rede Elétrica Espanhola (REE). Essa geração através dos ventos poderia cobrir todo o consumo elétrico mensal de uma nação do tamanho de Portugal.

Os parques eólicos registraram um recorde este mês, com uma geração de 4.738 GWh, cerca de 5% a mais do que em março de 2010, e superaram também o montante gerado por via hidráulica, consolidando-se como a primeira fonte renovável em volume de geração de energia no país.

Ao todo, as renováveis supriram 42,2% da demanda por eletricidade na Espanha este mês - número que, apesar da contribuição da geração eólica, está abaixo do registrado no mesmo período do ano passado (48,5%). A Rede Elétrica Espanhola explicou que a produção de energia via hidrelétricas, em 2010, foi muto mais alta do que a atual.

Com este peso das renováveis, 57,9% da energia gerada foram provenientes de tecnologias que não emitem dióxido de carbono (CO₂), um dos gases causadores de efeito estufa.

O Ministério da Indústria da Espanha detalhou esta semana que em 2010 as tecnologias "limpas" foram a principal fonte de geração elétrica na Espanha e representaram 13,2% da energia final gerada, quase um ponto porcentual acima dos 12,3% registrados em 2009.

"Este marco histórico alcançado pela eólica demonstra que esta energia, além de ser produzida localmente, limpa e cada vez mais competitiva, é uma realidade já capaz de abastecer 13 milhões de lares espanhóis", destacou à France Press José Donoso, presidente da AEE (Associação Empresarial Eólica).
