Movimentos sociais protestam contra reforma do Código Florestal e uso de agrotóxicos

Pequenos agricultores, trabalhadores rurais sem terra, ambientalistas, representantes das populações atingidas pela construção de barragens, quilombolas, estudantes e integrantes de várias entidades sociais promoveram na quinta-feira, 7 de abril, em Brasília, uma marcha contra a reforma do Código Florestal e o uso de agrotóxicos.

Segundo Paola Pereira, da coordenação do Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST), os movimentos sociais decidiram aproveitar o Dia Mundial da Saúde, comemorado no dia 7, para lançar a Campanha Permanente Contra os Agrotóxicos e Pela Vida. O principal objetivo da iniciativa é conscientizar a população sobre os riscos do uso indiscriminado de defensivos agrícolas, a falta de fiscalização, a contaminação dos solos e águas por essas substâncias e seu impacto na saúde dos trabalhadores rurais e da população em geral.

“É preciso discutir o assunto entre os agricultores, nas escolas, nos espaços públicos e projetos de lei. Temos que pressionar o governo para que suas agências fiscalizem, de fato, a utilização dos agrotóxicos. Desde 2009, o Brasil é campeão mundial no uso destes produtos”, afirmou Paola.

Quanto à reforma do Código Florestal, Paola comentou que o MST é contra o projeto já apresentado pelo deputado Aldo Rebelo (PCdoB-SP). “Se é preciso fazer alterações, nós temos que chamar a sociedade para o debate. Isso não é algo a ser discutido apenas com o lobby político dos ruralistas no Congresso [Nacional]
