Ibama apreende 1,6 mil toneladas de arroz produzido em fazenda irregular

Em campo há três semanas com a Operação Disparada, o Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente e dos Recursos Naturais Renováveis (Ibama) apreendeu hoje (20) mais de 1,6 mil toneladas de arroz cultivado ilegalmente em uma área embargada por desmatamento ilegal no município de Nova Ubiratã, em Mato Grosso. O estado é um dos focos da operação, que também tem frentes no Pará e no Amazonas.

A fazenda autuada hoje pelos fiscais estava embargada desde 2005, mas o proprietário continuava a produzir arroz na área de 1.390 hectares. Além da apreensão dos grãos, de uma colheitadeira, três tratores e equipamentos, a propriedade foi multada em R$ 7 milhões. Segundo o Ibama, as multas são por descumprimento de embargo, exercício de atividade de agricultura sem licença ambiental, pela não destinação adequada de embalagens e por impedir a regeneração natural da vegetação nativa.

O mesmo fazendeiro já desmatou quase 7 mil hectares de floresta entre 2010 e 2011, sem nenhuma licença ou autorização ambiental.

Até agora, somente em Mato Grosso, a Operação Disparada aplicou mais de R$ 40 milhões em multas, embargou 12 mil hectares de áreas desmatadas ilegalmente e apreendeu tratores caminhões, pás-carregadeiras, correntões, colheitadeiras e outros equipamentos que, somados, ultrapassam R$ 2 milhões, segundo o Ibama.
