Pescados: alternativa de renda para pequeno produtor rural

O Ministério da Pesca e Aqüicultura(MPA) e a Confederação Nacional dos Trabalhadores na Agricultura (Contag) acordaram, durante reunião, nesta segunda-feira(09/05), em Brasília, a elaboração de um termo de cooperação para o desenvolvimento da aquicultura como alternativa de renda para os agricultores familiares.

Durante o encontro, a ministra da Pesca e Aqüicultura, Ideli Salvatti destacou o enorme potencial brasileiro para a aquicultura, ou seja, o cultivo de pescado. Ideli ressaltou ainda a importância de reforçar os investimentos em pesquisa e tecnologia para aumentar de forma expressiva a produção. No acordo, deverá ser considerado o potencial pesqueiro de cada estado, respeitando as espécies mais indicadas para a produção e ainda as suas condições físicas e logísticas específicas.

A ministra afirmou, no encontro, que o MPA tem firme compromisso com os trabalhadores e lembrou: “ já foram demarcados sete grandes reservatórios para a implantação de parques aquícolas – fazendas para a produção de pescado no Brasil. Do total de lotes distribuídos, 80% foram destinados aos pequenos produtores.”Para ela, o agricultor familiar tem um perfil bastante positivo, por já estar acostumado a plantar ou criar animais dentro de critérios técnicos. Assim, terá mais facilidade para aprender o manejo do pescado, como forma de complementação de renda.

Atualmente, a Contag é a maior entidade sindical de trabalhadores rurais do Brasil. A entidade congrega 27 federações que reúnem aproximadamente quatro mil sindicatos rurais e 20 milhões de trabalhadores do campo.

Também participou da reunião, pelo MPA, o diretor do Departamento e Ordenamento da Aquicultura em Águas da União, Estevão Campelo. A Contag foi representada por Antoninho Rovaris, secretário de Política Agrícola da entidade. Compareceram ainda ao encontro, dirigentes de federações de trabalhadores do campo de todas as regiões do País.
