Moratória da soja será repactuada para enfrentar o desmatamento na Amazônia

O Ministério do Meio Ambiente e a Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Óleos Vegetais (Abiove) vão repactuar a Moratória da Soja para enfrentar o desmatamento da Amazônia. Ontem (24/5), a ministra do Meio Ambiente, Izabella Teixeira, e o presidente da Abiove, Carlo Lovatelli, se reuniram para discutir novas ações para o controle do desmatamento e garantir a produção da indústria de óleos vegetais e exportadores de cereais.

De acordo com o presidente da Abiove, os números do desmatamento na Amazônia nos meses de março e abril (593 Km²) surpreendeu a todos. "Somos totalmente contra. Se vier a ser confirmado que o desmatamento foi ilegal para a produção de soja, esse produtor não vai vender para Abiove ou para qualquer parceiro", garantiu Lovatelli.

Segundo Lovatelli, levará dois ou três anos para saber exatamente se o desmatamento registrado pelo Inpe foi para a produção de soja. Ele explicou que esse é o tempo para preparar a terra para planar a oleaginosa. "Vamos estudar para ver o que aconteceu e como evitar que se repita", ressaltou.

O movimento contra a comercialização da soja ilegal é representado por 90% da cadeia produtiva no País. Participam da iniciativa a Associação Brasileira da Indústria de Óleos Vegetais (Abiove) e a Associação Nacional dos Exportadores de Cereais (Anec). O monitoramento é realizado por satélites e sobrevôo nas regiões suspeitas. Participam da moratória organizações como Greenpeace, TNC, WWF, governo federal, além de associações produtoras.
