Especialistas defendem ciência espacial contra mudança climática

O presidente da Federação Internacional de Astronáutica (IAF, em inglês), Berndt Feuerbacher, afirmou na abertura do evento que, apesar das dificuldades econômicas, ficou comprovado que a indústria espacial provou ter um grande potencial e pode contribuir para o crescimento sustentável. Além disso, destacou a importância da ciência espacial para combater a mudança climática, e para isso pediu cooperação entre os organismos presentes, informou a agência "Yonhap". Feuerbacher lembrou o papel cada vez mais importante dos satélites para controlar os níveis de CO2 na atmosfera terrestre e outros gases do efeito estufa, assim como a necessidade de cooperar e compartilhar informação nessa área. A cidade sul-coreana de Daejeon reunirá durante cinco dias importantes cientistas, empresários e representantes de governos das principais potências espaciais e dos novos países emergentes. Entre os presentes, estão os diretores das principais agências espaciais do mundo, como a Agência Espacial Europeia (ESA), a americana Nasa, a russa Roscosmos, a japonesa Jaxa, a chinesa CNSA e a indiana ISRO. O encontro é o mais importante do campo da ciência aeroespacial e, este ano, estará orientado a oferecer ideias sobre a luta contra o aquecimento global, para promover o uso civil do espaço e promover a cooperação. Na cerimônia de abertura, o presidente sul-coreano, Lee Myung-bak, fez uma chamada à comunidade internacional para cooperar no desenvolvimento espacial. A Coreia do Sul e seu Instituto de Pesquisa Aeroespacial da Coreia (Kari, em inglês), propuseram a criação de um grande grupo regional Ásia-Pacífico para aumentar a cooperação em matéria espacial e que tem a intenção de estender seus laços à América Latina e À África. No mês passado, a Coreia do Sul deu os primeiros passos de seu programa espacial de foguetes ao lançar o Naro-1, que foi qualificado como "um êxito médio", já que não conseguiu pôr em órbita o satélite que levava. A Coreia do Sul conta com a cooperação da Rússia, que contribuiu para a construção do Naro-1 em seu programa espacial, mas espera poder construir seus próprios foguetes até 2018 e enviar uma sonda à Lua em 2025. O satélite natural da Terra será uma dos temas presentes no encontro, depois que na sexta-feira passada a Nasa conseguiu realizar um impacto controlado em uma cratera do polo sul lunar para provar a existência de vapor de água. Com um objetivo a longo prazo, as grandes economias emergentes da Ásia, China e Índia querem também se unir na conquista da Lua, com o objetivo de estabelecer bases permanentes no futuro e realizar a exploração de recursos, como o hélio-3, um composto que poderia ser vital para a fusão nuclear. Vantagens comparativas - Assim, o presidente da IAF pediu para aumentar a cooperação internacional e indicou que os países que ainda têm um programa espacial em suas primeiras fases podem fazer valer as áreas nas quais são pioneiros. Feuerbacher deu como exemplo a Coreia do Sul e sua importância no setor das tecnologias da informação, e lembrou que os problemas de financiamento, como os que aparecem em épocas de crise, fomentarão a colaboração internacional.
