Brasil participa de Encontro de Experts em Aquicultura Social Ambiental Latina

Ministério da Pesca e Aquicultura participa do Encontro de Experts em Aquicultura Social Ambiental Latina. Uma iniciativa da Organização das Nações Unidas para Agricultura e Alimentação – FAO, o encontro acontece em Buena Vista, na Bolívia, entre os dias 01 e 03 de junho e é composto por profissionais de 15 países, Argentina, Belize, Bolívia, Brasil, Colômbia, Costa Rica, Chile, Equador, Guatemala, México, Nicarágua, Panamá, Paraguai, Peru e Uruguai.

O Secretário de Planejamento e Ordenamento da Aquicultura do MPA, Felipe Matias, representa o Brasil no encontro. Durante as reuniões serão apresentados os resultados da análise dos relatórios nacionais e os documentos relacionados aos demais países envolvidos. As análises que foram desenvolvidas em 2010 serão usadas para aplicação de uma ferramenta diagnóstica padrão de Aqüicultura de Recursos Limitados (AREL) e Micro e Pequenas Empresas (AMYPES) na América Latina e no Caribe.

De acordo com dados da pesquisa Brasil e Peru são os países com o maior número de produtores e pequenas empresas e apresentam uma diferença acentuada em número total se comparados aos outros países pesquisados. Um elemento que se destaca como fator de limitação é o acesso a tecnologia e ao capital.

O Brasil , que preside a Rede de Aquicultura das Américas, aproveitará a oportunidade do Encontro para apresentar as experiências e modelo de desenvolvimento da aquicultura por meio da cessão de águas da União e dos parque aquícolas, que tem como objetivos o desenvolvimento sustentável da atividade para produzir mais pescado e promover melhoria da qualidade de vida e de renda.
