Ibama anuncia aumento na equipe de brigada contra queimadas

O Brasil ganhou um reforço para o combate e prevenção de incêndios florestais em todo o território nacional. Trinta brigadistas foram empossados na manhã de ontem (06/6) pela ministra do Meio Ambiente, Izabella Teixeira. O novo grupo se junta a outros dois mil especialistas que fazem parte do Programa de Prevenção e Controle às Queimadas (PrevFogo). O evento que aconteceu na sede do Ibama em Brasília faz parte das comemorações da Semana do Meio Ambiente.

De acordo com a ministra, o fogo é o primeiro passo para o desmatamento ilegal, e esta será uma tropa de resposta rápida, sediada em Brasília, que terá a missão de combater incêndios em qualquer ponto do Brasil.

Izabella Teixeira voltou a afirmar que as questões ambientais apresentam problemas de vinte anos atrás, e que medidas como essa - contratação de novos brigadistas - visa avanços na governança ambiental pública e privada.

A ministra reforçou que o meio ambiente é parte fundamental das agendas social e econômica, e que o País deve promover seu desenvolvimento por meio de um planejamento estratégico entre os principais setores da economia.

Izabella destacou também os principais temas a serem trabalhados na Rio+20 - desenvolvimento sustentável, paz, erradicação de pobreza e segurança energética e alimentar - e afirmou que a conferência vai enfatizar a governança ambiental rumo a uma economia verde.

A ministra aproveitou as celebrações da Semana do Meio Ambiente para falar sobre a importância do Bolsa Verde, um projeto de complemento de renda a populações tradicionais que vivem em áreas protegidas.

"É preciso manejar e oferecer oportunidades de uso para comunidades que vivem em unidades de conservação, favorecendo o potencial econômico destas áreas e contribuindo para a melhoria das condições de vida. É preciso olhar para o campo pensando em uma estratégia de erradicação de pobreza e melhoria de condições para as comunidades tradicionais", avaliou.

Presente na cerimônia de posse, o presidente do Ibama, Curt Trennepohl, ressaltou as ações do Programa de Prevenção e Controle às Queimadas (PrevFogo), que completou 10 anos em 2011. O programa está presente em 18 estados e conta com dois mil brigadistas preparados e capacitados para combater incêndios florestais.

Durante o evento, houve o lançamento do livro Tevê: Um olhar reciclado, de Larissa Malty, e da exposição do PrevFogo sobre os 10 anos de atuação dos brigadistas em incêndios florestais.
