Ministra regulamenta em Natal a produção de pescado orgânico

Produtos orgânicos são cada vez mais valorizados pelo consumidor, que deseja alimentos saudáveis e naturais. Se isto até agora era válido para verduras e alguns tipos de carne, em breve as gôndolas e refrigeradores dos supermercados de todo o Brasil também poderão contar com peixes, crustáceos e moluscos orgânicos, ou seja, cultivados com qualidade e de forma menos intensiva.

A novidade está relacionada a uma instrução normativa interministerial, que foi assinada nesta segunda-feira (06/06) pela ministra Ideli Salvatti, da Pesca e Aquicultura, durante a oitava edição da Feira Nacional do Camarão (Fenacam), o maior evento da carcinicultura nacional, e da WAS’11, o principal encontro da aquicultura mundial, que ocorrem em Natal, a capital do Rio Grande do Norte.

A nova regulamentação, que será assinada também pelo Ministério da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, irá estabelecer normas técnicas para os Sistemas Orgânicos de Produção Aquícola a serem seguidos por pessoas físicas e jurídicas. “A Lei para Orgânicos no Brasil, que entrou em vigor no início deste ano, era válida para diversas espécies animais e vegetais, mas não contemplava o setor de pescados”, explica a ministra Ideli Salvatti.

Segundo ela, muitos produtores já produzem pescado orgânico, mas não têm, até o momento, como atestar a qualidade dos produtos pela falta da regulamentação. Este é o caso, por exemplo, de quatro grandes produtores de camarão do Nordeste, que oferecem mais espaço para os animais no sistema de cultivo e não utilizam antibióticos, hormônios ou qualquer produto de origem química. “Sem a certificação, a produção deixa de ter o valor que merece no mercado interno e não pode ser exportada. A nova regulamentação supre esta lacuna.”, complementa a ministra.

De acordo com as normas técnicas para os Sistemas Orgânicos de Produção Aquícola, as unidades produtoras deverão possuir registros dos procedimentos de todas as operações envolvidas na produção e dispor de um Plano de Manejo Orgânico atualizado. Os sistemas também devem ser planejados de forma que sejam produtivos e respeitem a necessidade e o bem-estar dos organismos aquáticos. A alimentação dos animais será totalmente de origem orgânica.
