Criadores de gado curraleiro pé-duro discutem futuro da raça bovina

O futuro e a melhoria genética do rebanho da raça bovina curraleiro pé-duro foi um dos temas a ser discutido nesta terça-feira, 18 de outubro, no restaurante Sítio Casa Grande, em encontro de membros da Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Gado Bovino Curraleiro Pé-Duro – ABCPD.

Os associados da ABCPD deverão definir as medidas iniciais para a criação de uma fazenda experimentar para melhoria e desenvolvimento genético da raça. A fazenda deverá ser feita em uma parceria com a Embrapa, Instituto Nacional do Semiárido (Insa) e Banco do Nordeste.

A ABCPD vai discutir ainda a participação de criadores de gado curraleiro pé-duro na Expoapi, o que deve favorecer maior reconhecimento da importância da raça para a atividade pecuária, seja no Piauí, seja nos demais estados brasileiros onde esse raça bovina é criada.

Atualmente, explica Fernando Gayoso, presidente da associação, o processo re reconhecimento da raça curraleiro pé-duro está em análise no Ministério da Agricultura, Abastecimento e Pecuária.

Na reunião de amanhã, a Associação Brasileira de Criadores de Gado Bovino Curraleiro Pé-Duro deverá eleger uma nova diretoria, além de propor aumento do número de associados.
