Projeto avança e instala unidades do sistema de leite a pasto

Duas unidades demonstrativas piloto do Sistema de Leite a Pasto, no Projeto Boa Esperança, estão sendo instaladas nos municípios de Uruçui, no Piauí; e de São João dos Patos, no Maranhão. O trabalho é executado pela Embrapa Meio-Norte. O Projeto Boa Esperança, de transferência de tecnologia, é financiado pela Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco – Chesf.

Essa inovação tecnológica na produção de leite de gado é considerada a que mais reduz custos, já que dispensa o uso de ração concentrada. A economia com custos de alimentação chega até 50 por cento e com mão-de-obra pode atingir 70 por cento, de acordo com os estudos já realizados. Mas para ser viável, o produtor precisa utilizar forrageiras de alta produtividade e animais com potencial leiteiro em condições de pastejo.

“A disponibilidade de forrageiras em quantidade e qualidade - diz o agrônomo Francisco Monteiro – requer o pastejo rotacionado com a divisão de piquetes ajustados à taxa de lotação animal, períodos de ocupação e descanso das áreas. Aliado a isso, é obrigatório o uso de irrigação e adubação constantes, para que se mantenha estável a oferta de alimento ao longo do ano”.

O agrônomo da Embrapa Meio-Norte descreve o sistema didaticamente. “No caso do Meio-Norte do Brasil, as gramíneas mais indicadas são os capins Tanzânia, Brizanta e Tifton. A taxa de lotação nos piquetes mais utilizada é a de seis unidades animal por hectare, ano, com períodos de ocupação variando de 2 a 4 dias, e de descanso no piquete de 26 a 28 dias”.

Ele informa que a tecnologia é usada com vacas que têm uma produção média de 10 litros de leite por dia. Passando dessa produção, Francisco Monteiro recomenda uma suplementação com ração concentrada contendo 18 por cento de proteína bruta na quantidade de um quilo para cada dois quilos de leite produzidos adicionalmente. O sistema é indicado para pequenos e médios produtores .
