Facilidade de legalização de queimadas no Piauí

A Secretaria Estadual do Meio Ambiente e Recursos Hídricos (Semar) e o Instituto de Assistência Técnica e Extensão Rural do Piauí (Emater) vão firmar convênio para facilitar a liberação de áreas para queimadas programadas no período do verão, quando os agricultores queimam grandes áreas preparando a terra para o plantio.

No momento, apenas a Semar tem poderes para autorizar a realização de queimadas no Piauí e como o órgão não dispõe de representação no interior do Estado, fica difícil para os pequenos agricultores conseguirem a licença ambiental e fazendo com que a maioria das queimas seja feita de maneira irregular.

Pelo convênio, o Emater passará a ter poderes para emitir a licença e, como o órgão tem escritório em todos os municípios do Piauí, os agricultores terão mais facilidades para regularizar a situação. “O Emater trabalha mais próximo do pequeno agricultor e isto vai facilitar a vida desse pessoal quando for preparar a terra para o plantio”, explica Francisco Celso de Medeiros, coordenador estadual do Centro Nacional de Prevenção e Combate aos Incêndios Florestais do Ibama.

Quando a queimada é realizada sem a licença da Semar, o responsável poderá ser punido com multa. “As áreas queimadas de maneira ilegal serão periciadas e os infratores identificados, para que se possa aplicar a lei”, adianta Francisco Celso.

Na queimada legal, com autorização, o agricultor recebe orientação técnica sobre a melhor maneira de promover a queima, que será monitorada para evitar imprevistos. Fora de controle, a queimada pode provocar sérios prejuízos, atingindo áreas próximas e até residências.

No Piauí, os focos de incêndio são monitorados permanentemente pelo Ibama, que possui 121 brigadistas nos municípios de Corrente, Bom Jesus, Alvorada do Gurguéia, Uruçuí, Canto do Buriti, Baixa Grande do Ribeiro e Piracuruca, áreas que abrigam ou estão próximas de parques federais ou estaduais. Nas demais regiões, a fiscalização é feita pela Semar e Batalhão de Polícia Ambiental.
