Pesquisas buscam melhorar eficiência da tecnologia de clonagem de bovinos

A pesquisa é uma realização do CTZL com parceria com a Embrapa.

Foram produzidos nos últimos dias, no laboratório de reprodução animal do Centro de Transferência de Tecnologias de Raças Zebuínas com Aptidão Leiteira (CTZL), os primeiros embriões clonados a partir de células de uma vaca da raça Gir de alto valor genético. O experimento foi realizado a partir de células da orelha de um animal recém-falecido. “É nossa rotina produzir embriões por meio de fecundação in vitro e de transferência de embriões. Mas, foi a primeira vez que realizamos a tecnologia de transferência nuclear (clonagem) integralmente no laboratório”, afirmou o pesquisador da Embrapa Cerrados, Carlos Frederico Martins. O CTZL é ligado à Embrapa Cerrados, Unidade da Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Embrapa).

De acordo com ele, os embriões foram conseguidos na primeira tentativa de manipulação. “Agora vamos testar outros tipos celulares para verificar se influenciam na melhoria da tecnologia. Para esse trabalho podemos utilizar células do líquido amniótico, do cordão umbilical, e de tecidos adiposos. As células amnióticas e do cordão umbilical apresentam memória embrionária recente e nunca foram utilizadas nos procedimentos de clonagem”, explicou. Segundo o pesquisador, nas próximas semanas vão ser produzidos outros embriões que serão transferidos para animais receptores.

Um dos principais objetivos da clonagem de bovinos está relacionado ao melhoramento genético do rebanho. “A clonagem comercial tem sido utilizada para criar cópias de animais com elevado valor genético, tais como vacas com alta produção de leite ou touros com qualidade de carne superior”, explicou o estudioso. De acordo com ele, a tecnologia também pode ser utilizada para produzir animais transgênicos, os quais podem apresentar no leite proteínas para utilização humana, tais como fatores de coagulação sanguínea e insulina.
