Três ações de transferência de tecnologias do Projeto Boa Esperança mudam a realidade ambiental de uma comunidade no Piauí. São as unidades demonstrativas piloto com cama sobreposta, pocilga rústica para manejo racional de suínos e um biodigestor que utiliza os dejetos, instaladas no povoado Brejão, no município de Antônio Almeida, a 382 quilômetros ao sul de Teresina.

Financiado pela Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco – Chesf e executado pela Embrapa Meio-Norte, o trabalho está sendo desenvolvido em parceria com o pequeno agricultor Juci Brito de Lira, de 46 anos, numa área de dois hectares, onde ele produz suínos mestiços de raças comerciais. As ações já dão respostas positivas na renda do agricultor e serão vitrines tecnológicas para a região em 2012.

Cinco resultados desfilam na trilha da eficiência tecnológica: redução da mortalidade de crias, que antes chegava a até 80 por cento, para menos de 10 por cento; retenção de dejetos no biodigestor e no subtrato da cama sobreposta; melhoria da aparência geral do plantel; diminuição de moscas e odores; e cultivo de banana renovado para uso de biofertilizante.

Para as 40 famílias do povoado Brejão, que sobrevivem da agricultura e da criação de pequenos animais, o maior benefício até agora do Projeto Boa Esperança na comunidade foi ambiental. O riacho, que serve a todos, agora não recebe mais dejetos de suínos gerados na unidade. Com a instalação do biodigestor, que já funciona produzindo gás para o consumo de Juci Brito, evita-se o uso da lenha no preparo dos alimentos.

USO RACIONAL

Aproveitando material da própria área, como madeira roliça, palha e casca de arroz, por exemplo, as estruturas são simples e resistentes. As unidades demonstrativas são formadas por um galpão de nove metros por cinco, cimentado, com seis divisões feitas em estacotes, que são usadas para o manejo reprodutivo e cria; um galpão de terminação em cama sobreposta, medido 5 metros por dez, suficientes para 25 animais; e um biodigestor com gasômetro que tem capacidade de produzir dois metros cúbicos de gás por dia

O coordenador das ações, zootecnista Robério Sobreira, diz que o uso de bebedouro tipo chupeta, de uso comum na suinucultura industrial, e que está sendo utilizado no projeto, é de baixo custo e garante o fornecimento de água com qualidade, evitando, assim, desperdícios e formação de poças.

Ele destaca também o benefício que a cama sobreposta traz. “Depois de removida – diz – a cama sobreposta é submetida a um período complementar de compostagem, representando uma importante fonte para a adubação dos cultivos a um custo praticamente zero”.
