Cuidados para controle de pragas iniciais da soja

A cultura da soja pode ser atacada por pragas desde a semeadura até a fase final de enchimento de grãos. O ataque começa com as pragas iniciais, seguido pelos insetos desfolhadores e brocas e, finalmente, pelos sugadores (percevejo e mosca branca).

O pesquisador da Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste (Dourados, MS), Crébio José Ávila, explica que as pragas iniciais são aquelas que ocorrem nos primeiros estádios de desenvolvimento da cultura, ou seja, até 30 dias depois da semeadura.

As pragas podem destruir a semente em processo de germinação ou até as plântulas, o que acarretará na redução de estande (número de plantas por área) ou afetar o desenvolvimento da planta que sobrevive ao ataque.

– Dependendo do grau de redução do estande ou do vigor da planta, isso pode resultar em perda significativa de produtividade – alerta o pesquisador.

As principais pragas iniciais são: lagarta elasmo, coró, piolho de cobra, caramujo, lesmas, grilos, gafanhotos, tamanduá e vaquinha. O pesquisador alerta que o manejo dessas pragas deve começar antes mesmo da semeadura da soja.

–Se somente após a semeadura for verificada alguma praga inicial, dependendo de qual seja ela, não existem medidas curativas – adverte.

De acordo com Crébio, os problemas com as pragas iniciais começam com a presença de lagartas que podem estar presentes na cultura de cobertura do solo que será dessecada.

– Caso a lagarta esteja nessa cobertura, é necessária a realização da dessecação com herbicida, no mínimo, 20 dias antes da semeadura. Com a retirada do alimento, o inseto encerrará o seu desenvolvimento. Se a dessecação não for antecipada, então deverá ser feito o controle de lagartas na cobertura, porém utilizando um produto que tenha baixo impacto sobre os inimigos naturais das pragas da soja – disse ele.

Ele orienta que antes da semeadura seja feita uma vistoria no interior e na superfície do solo para detectar a presença de pragas iniciais. Dependendo do problema encontrado, deverá ser feita a opção pelo tratamento de sementes, como é o caso de corós e do tamanduá da soja. O controle dessas pragas pode ser feito através de pulverizações de inseticidas sobre a cultura, como, por exemplo, para piolho de cobra, grilo, gafanhoto e vaquinha.
